Our Story
We're two doctors who left the NHS and built careers in healthtech, strategy, and business development. We learned first-hand how many exciting opportunities exist for doctors in industry, and how unnecessarily hard they are to find.
The Problem
Companies need clinical expertise. Doctors want flexible, meaningful work. But somehow these two groups can't seem to find each other.
Most "alternative career" advice is vague, generic, or expensive, and often doesn't lead to real jobs. Meanwhile, companies pay premium rates to consultants for work doctors could do better.
What We're Building
Roam connects doctors with companies that value clinical expertise. Opportunities range from a few hours of advisory work, to a full-time alternative career switch, and anything in between.
No expensive courses or fellowships. No gatekeeping.
Just real opportunities with real companies that genuinely value both your expertise and you as a person.
Why It Matters
We both went through the painful process of transitioning from traditional NHS careers to industry work. Lots of rejection, confusion, and zero guidance on how to position clinical experience for alternative-career jobs.
We built Roam so other doctors don't have to go through the same process.

Dr Olivia Stanford
Co-founder
Head of Business Development for a big corporate, busy toddler mum and former NHS doctor. Made the jump after Covid burnout and realised the grass actually is greener.
The driving force behind Roam.
Dr Connor Toorish
Co-founder
Prison GP, Mental Health Lead, and Healthtech Transformation Lead; the definition of a portfolio career. Taught himself to code and built the platform, so blame him for any bugs. Enjoys being outmanoeuvred by his 1 year old and occasionally goes to the gym.
